THE PEOPLE VS. ALAN WINSTON

1998
TRT: 2:30
Drama/Parody/Trailer
TMR: 22   Top15: #15 (tie)

A parody of the trailer for The People vs. Larry Flynt, this short made fun of the situation surrounding the ban of episode 12 of Delusions of Grandeur. Everyone involved in the story pretty much played themselves - Alan as the target of censorship, KShawn as his main supporter, the cast of Doin' the Spice as themselves, and Jeff Bennett as the 'evil station manager'. Just a fake trailer, it spawned questions of when the actual movie would be coming out. One of the most popular sketches of the first year of the show, this one was definitely a step in the right direction.

     COMMENTARY

This one's pretty old and dated, but it's still kind of fun. It's also the first in a long string of self-referential movies. People who know about the situation really enjoy the movie, but those who don't are pretty confused by it. But overall, I think that it was a fun and positive way to put an end to the whole 'censorship controversy'.
